Fort Hill Performing Arts Center Welcomes Local Artist Philip Probst to Gallery
Canandaigua, NY — April 22, 2025 - Fort Hill Performing Arts Center is pleased to announce its newest featured gallery artist: Philip Probst, a lifelong Ontario County resident and accomplished local creative. With a career spanning decades in the arts, Probst brings a wealth of experience, skill, and thoughtful artistry to the walls of Fort Hill.
A Canandaigua resident for nearly 25 years, Probst has long been an active contributor to the local arts community, exhibiting his work, teaching aspiring artists, and engaging with arts organizations throughout Ontario and surrounding counties. His latest collection at Fort Hill showcases his mastery in oil, acrylics, watercolor, and pencil—mediums he uses to explore a wide range of subjects on surfaces including canvas, paper, and wood.
Probst believes that true art needs no explanation—it should resonate on its own. His work reflects that philosophy, with compositions influenced by the likes of Emily Carr, Winslow Homer, Lee Krasner, Nicholas de Staël, and the Wyeth family. Each piece begins with careful planning and research, as he explores the best mediums, tools, and techniques to bring his vision to life. The result is artwork that feels both deliberate and deeply expressive.
“We’re honored to feature Philip’s work in our gallery,” says Sueann Townsend, Executive Director of Fort Hill Performing Arts Center “His talent, connection to the community, and thoughtful process align beautifully with our mission to celebrate and support the arts here in the Finger Lakes.”
Patrons can view Philip Probst’s work in the Fort Hill gallery during all performances and special gallery hours. For more information on upcoming exhibits and events, visit www.forthillpac.com.
